Abdul bin Hussain and his entourage of security, lawyers and his associates were walking through the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Fort Worth, Texas. He was dressed in traditional Arabic white thaub and kaffiyeh. He was surrounded by a camera crew as well as a lot of uniformed Texan airport officials. The officials were all serious looking and were keeping an eye on the entire group especially Abdul bin Hussain. They were coming from a private terminal where their private jet which had been provided by the management of New Edge Wrestling.
“So Abdul,” Rafiq said as he led the way through the airport. “Do we have to have this infidel camera crew follow us all the time? Would it not highlight some of the racism that we face in our daily life? Why would they want that to be put out there on their screens?”
“Everyone is doing reality television these days,” Abdul bin Hussain said. “The powers that be at New Edge Wrestling have decided that for a future release that they want to do a reality television series and who better than Abdul bin Hussain. This camera crew will follow us around for a bit to see what it is like to be an Iraqi wrestling superstar travelling around with a predominately American promotion. They do it with a lot of no talented infidels whose only claim to fame is that they have got a bigger cleavage than their IQ’s. Plus they probably want to say something controversial so get some airtime for their company now that it is full of old timers that are well past their prime and newbies that should still be gaining experience on the independence scene. They are not even on my level.”
“What have we said about insulting the competition?” The producer’s voice was tinny in his ear. “They are the pioneers in this industry Abdul. We want your product to be up there with them. And if you insult them too much we will not get on the Network.”
Abdul bin Hussain smiled. “Abdul bin Hussain is so much better than the Kardasians, Catfish, Real Housewives of Baghdad or some two-bit Jersey Shore rip off. Do you think they could do an Arab Shore’s series or even a Love Island show from the Middle East? I do not think so.”
“You know the rules Abdul,” the Producer said. “When you’re miked and in the field you need to think before you speak. We don't want any lawsuits against the company just yet.”
“Why are we bothering with this?” Rafiq said. ”Shouldn’t we be trying to do everything to get back to the top of the wrestling industry? Last time we were here you were so disrespected; so what is the plan of action to get us back to the top? This company and some of it's so-called talent put you down at any moment.”
Abdul bin Hussain smirked as he caressed his beard. “Once the Butcher of Basra settles into this new schedule he will begin to rise back to what it was like when he last won a World Heavyweight Championship. It all depends on if New Edge Wrestling wants to move with the times and push a whole new champion like Abdul bin Hussain BUT from past experience with its owner he’ll probably push the usual suspects. But I’ve been told they are on a new direction so we will see.”
Rafiq nodded, “But this is Jesse Styles, Abdul. He cannot be trusted either. More so now that NEW are running shows once again here in America. They hate us here. Especially with all the stuff that has been going on in the Middle East lately. I would not be too surprised if they take us directly to one of their Police stations.”
“Think of the ratings,” the Producer said. “This is the episode and could put New Edge Wrestling back on the map if you guys were taken into custody for some controversy you cause. We could be making headlines of our own.”
Abdul bin Hussain turned and looked at his associate Rafiq. “I will not cause controversy just to get them ratings. This is all about me and there former multi-time Champion, Roger Wright…….”
Rafiq interrupted his charge, “Another infidel.”
Abdul bin Hussain looked at him with a look of utter disdain. “Don’t interrupt me Rafiq. Do you think I will not slap you because camera is filming us? No, I will not over luck that yes Roger is just another infidel BUT Rafiq, Roger is a multi-time World Champion here in New Edge Wrestling and has some talent in the eyes of those watching at home but he lost to the ultimate infidel Jonathon Stylez. Stylez may have that world championship belt but as soon as he puts that Valora in her place I will challenge him. I will get that soon as it is the property of mine not some infidel who won it by default after he defeated a pathetic Roger Wright. Something will need to be done; and sooner than later.”
“Eh,” the cameraman cleared his throat. “I just want to remind everybody that you need to do more than stand around putting together dastardly plans if you want to get viewers.………………..”
It had been the management of New Edge Wrestling’s idea to turn the career of Abdul bin Hussain into a reality show, and it did seem like a good idea at the time but now it was getting on Abdul bin Hussain’s last nerve. He was nervous and that is how it showed. People thought that Abdul bin Hussain was this extremist from Iraq with terrorist tendencies. Do they think he hide his real shelf behind the persona that he portrayed on television each and every week.
Abdul bin Hussain was on his feet and walked away. The man hefted his camera, preparing to follow him.
“Come on,” Abdul bin Hussain said to his entourage. “I need to get to the hotel so I can get prepared for the defeat that this infidel will have when he faces me. I must prepare my face for the right amount of disdain to give him after I have defeated him…..easily!”
Rafiq nodded. “I know that will happen. You will embarrass the American and he will take his infidel posterior back to the State of his before its demise. Is that not right Abdul?”
Abdul bin Hussain laughed as he walked through the airport. “Good question Rafiq. Roger will probably be flapping his gums to the nearest New Edge Wrestling’s film crew mentioning something about me being a terrorist and that I should be locked away for my crimes at 9-11. He will be saying that I cannot win this as he is doing it for America. He should get his facts right. I am Abdul bin Hussain. I am the Butcher of Basra.”
He turned and looked at Rafiq ignoring the camera crew getting right in their faces.
“I will make this match interesting,” Abdul bin Hussain said. “I will push him to the limits of his skills, and then I will pin his shoulders to the mat for the three count and move one step closer to getting the Championship gold around my waist where it belongs.”
Rafiq smirked. He knew how to push the right buttons with his charge and enjoyed it. “And the people that had disrespected your sister Nazirah last time you were here?”
Abdul bin Hussain shrugged. “Whoever they are do they think that they have my number by going through her first? The perpetrators will probably just come out with some high-brow witty banter about the way I am not able to beat them. I am not wanted in New Edge Wrestling, I am not wanted in the United States of Mediocre. They probably think that they will get away it without any reprisals.” He caressed his beard as he looked around. “Whoever they were will probably state that he has nothing to prove by insulting the sister of the greatest wrestling talent that this company has ever had in it; But they with have to deal with a man of Arabic descent that is motivated and driven; how sad for those whatever infidel place on this planet. Either way I will not let them keep insult my sister without reprisals; I left last time because I couldn’t feel safe for my family but not now. No Rafiq. It is open season on whoever insults my sister.”
“And Roger Wright, you will defeat him easily, like you did with the majority of infidels that they threw at you last time you were here before they tried to bury you,” Rafiq said. “And cement your legacy in this wrestling promotion as the greatest wrestler they have ever had and ever will have in its future.”
“This is true.” Abdul bin Hussain said. “Once I have got past this Roger Wright I will get one step closer to my destiny. But he will just have to get with the program as the New Edge Wrestling World Championship title belt is going to be around my waist where it should have been in the first place. Myself and Roger will face each other here in Texas in a Hell in a Cell match. Don’t think that I do not see the irony in this match. An American puts a Iraqi citizen in a cell much like your CIA put my Arabic brothers and sisters into in Cuba or one of their other Black Sites around the world. America is blatantly racist and I could go further an talk to the viewers about what Israel is doing to the innocent people of the Gaza BUT I don’t think New Edge Wrestling would be able survive the controversy if I opened up about that.”
The producer had a look of utter panic on his face.
“No Roger this will just be your downfall as you become a stepping stone for the Butcher of Basra,” he continued. “Did you get all of that on camera? Did you manage to get your sound bites from me? I hope I do not have to repeat myself. But I digress as to the hotel we must go. Oh I have forgotten one thing.”
He cocked his head to the side and listened.
"For there is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is his messenger,” he started. “And I am Mohammed's messenger to you."
His mouth curled up.
"I will put on a showcase performance that will convert the audience," Abdul said.
He turned and walked down the corridor out of the airport, but paused before he left, turned and looked deep in the camera.
"Allah Akbar!"
“So Abdul,” Rafiq said as he led the way through the airport. “Do we have to have this infidel camera crew follow us all the time? Would it not highlight some of the racism that we face in our daily life? Why would they want that to be put out there on their screens?”
